Affordable Ways to Savour the Season
Autumn, with its crisp air, vibrant foliage and cosy vibes, is a beloved season for many. But enjoying all that Autumn has to offer may seem out of your budget. We are here to tell you that with a little creativity and thoughtfulness, you can introduce a touch of Fall happiness without breaking the bank. Here are six affordable ways to make the most of the season!
Spice up your life with Autumnal Syrups
Think: Pumpkin Spice, Pumpkin Pecan
We love a good Pumpkin Spice Latte as much as the next basic b🎃tch but our wallets tend to whimper at the thought of buying them more than for the odd treat. The subtle taste of a spicy Autumnal syrup can be enough to make or break your morning and don’t forget, you can buy mini bottles to mix it up. Plus you can use these in your porridge for an extra touch of seasonal magic! We have found these kind of syrups in TK Maxx/TJ Maxx so have a browse next time you're shopping!
Accessorise what you already have
Ok ok, we are obviously biased but adding a tiny touch of Autumn just for yourself is one way to switch to Autumn mode.
Change Your Laces
Give your shoes a seasonal makeover by swapping out their laces for ones in autumnal hues like rust, pumpkin orange, mustard, or olive green. While you're at it, if you've got an old necklace or bracelet charm you aren't wearing, why not make yourself a boot charm like below?! You can also find these cute pumpkin boot charms or green Autumn Walk charm in our store now.
Add to your Autumn stack
Our new Pumpkin Crescent Cradle Series and our all time best seller Autumn is Calling Wreath Ring are the perfect all year round touch of Autumn, but if pumpkins aren't really your vibe, perhaps nature and animals is! Our Sleeping Shadow Tail Squirrel Ring is the most adorable best friend you could add to your ring stack. The Fungi Forest Toadstool Ring is one of our all time best sellers if you are looking for a more woodland witch vibe.
Take yourself on a thoughtful solo thrift date
This is truly one of our favourite things to do! Set yourself a small budget and see what you can find! Here are some ideas of what to look for to set the mood – a cosy scarf, cable knit jumpers, a studio pottery mug, Autumnal décor, nature books. If you don't want to go alone, take a friend and turn it into a competition.
Tip – if your thrift / charity stores are all within walking distance of each other, make sure you take pictures of items you are thinking about and then go back when you have made your mind up and visited them all. This helps you to thoughtfully purchase and also not regret buying something if you end up finding a better option in the next store.
Indulge in weekly cosy nights in
Put the FOMO in the bin and set aside one night a week to indulge in a cosy night just for you - doing whatever if your favourite thing. Whether it's watching your favourite Vlog series, re-watching Autumn-themed movies, spending time on a hobby, baking seasonal treats, or simply curling up under a blanket with a good book, designate this night as something you can look forward to. Make it different from other nights by scheduling it, for example, on your bed sheet change day, then light a candle that you've been saving for a rainy day and pop some fairy lights on. Romanticise your life.
Make your own mulled apple juice
Warm up chilly Autumn evenings with a homemade batch of mulled apple juice. Simply heat up some apple juice on the stove, add a cinnamon stick or two for extra flavour (if you have some to hand) or sprinkle in some powdered spice. It's a simple and affordable Autumn treat and whilst there are fancier recipes out there, this really does do the trick with minimal effort! You can even pour it into a thermos to keep it warm on-the-go.
Explore Local Autumn Markets / Pumpkin Patch
Fall wouldn't be complete without a visit to your local Autumn market or Pumpkin Patch. While you're there, soak in the festive atmosphere, browse the stalls filled with pumpkins, apples, and other seasonal delights, and enjoy the sense of community that comes with supporting local vendors. You don't have to spend a penny (though some patches charge a few pounds / dollars as an entry fee) to enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of the season. Don’t forget your thermos of mulled apple juice!
