#dixitalentscout How To Get Inspired

Awoo Dixi Fam,

As so many of us find ourselves stuck in one place for the next few weeks, now is the perfect time to work on something special for our #dixitalentscout contest round 2! We recently extended the window for accepting designs until April 12th 2020, so even if you haven't sat down and started sketching, you've still got a good few weeks to come up with your dream piece of Dixi jewellery!

Find the full brief, instructions for entry, previous winners, and terms and conditions on the competition page here.

But if you are struggling for inspiration, we are here to help! Here are some basic ideas to get your creative juices flowing.

Plus some more ideas and recommendations....

Do some free writing

Use these one of these words as writing prompts (or choose your own), set a timer for 10 minutes on your phone, and let your mind wander! The trick with this is to not think too much about what you're writing - just write it. Let the prompt take you wherever it naturally wants to go. It could be a story, a memory, an image, or not make any sense at all!

Make a Spotify Playlist

Make it themed or don't! Try to find some magical autumn feeling songs, or just your faves that make you happy and give you ideas!
My favourite way to compile Spotify playlists is to make a new playlist, add three or four songs that I really like, and then refresh the 'recommendations' at the bottom of the playlist. I'm forever finding songs I'd completely forgotten about this way!

Meditate

If it's your first time, find an app (we recommend Insight Timer or Headspace) or a video on YouTube to follow along with!

We really hope that these simple ideas help! If there is something that you do to get yourself out of a creative rut, let us know in the comments. The rest of the Dixi Fam would appreciate it too!

Lots of love, your sisters at Dixi x
